Material/ Memory/ Myth — Art + Design and the Modern Role of Craft

October 13 – October 30, 2021
Los Angeles, CA - Jeff Lincoln Art + Design and Nicole Timonier are pleased to present a group show of twelve LA and West Coast-based artists and designers who are at the forefront of a movement in which the lines between art and craft are blurred, engaging ancient materials - ceramic, wood, glass, fiber - from a modern point of view, freed from history of craft, yet rooted in memory, transcending time and place, and creating new mythologies.

Each artist and designer grew up without the constraints of what constitutes art and craft as these distinctions have dissolved with the recognition over time in the art world of seminal mid-century LA artists such as Peter Voulkos and John Mason, two artists who worked in ceramic and expanded the notion of clay as a fine art medium.

"Material/ Memory/ Myth" presents the unique voice of these artists and designers, as they illustrate the depth and breadth of artistic expression possible when craft transcends its medium to become art. Through October 30th.
