Candace Bahouth

Candace Bahouth’s work like her is exuberant, freely connecting, bright on sight and deep on examination.

Bahouth is a Fine Arts graduate of Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. She settled in the rural countryside of Somerset, England, where she continues to live in an old Methodist Chapel. For many years she developed her unique facility for tapestry/weaving, working mainly in archetypal portraits. In 1988 she concentrated her creative activity on the art of needlepoint, over one hundred and thirty of her designs have since been published.

As well as her interest in textiles and needlework, she has expanded her works to the art of mosaics, using found material from nature as well as fragments of china.

In 1996, Bahouth exhibited her works at the American Museum, Bath, England. The retrospective was praised by critics and proved to be the best attended single artist show in the museum’s history. In 2008 she exhibited with Kaffe Fassett at the Victoria Gallery, Bath, England. For five months during 2019 – 2020, she had a highly acclaimed solo exhibition at the Holburne Museum, Bath, England.
